A Holiday Classic: A Tale Of Two Pumpkins

Time to revisit a true holiday classic...

A Tale Of Two Pumpkins
by jimmylin

 * * * * *

the journey of a pumpkin, as he searches for a friend,
what adventures does he face, and how does it end...

camano1
atop this lonely perch i wait,
searching for my pumpkin mate

camano2
when hark! a sight that i adore,
one step...

camano3
two steps...

camano4
three steps...

camano5
four!

camano6
together at last, t'was no simple feat,
but alas my search is now complete

camano7
hand in hand, we cuddle around,
staring across the puget sound

camano8
but no! not everything is always so great,
sadly we fight, and sometimes we hate

camano9
at times it may seem, that i'm stuck down below,
can i at least be your friend, and never a foe?

camano10
the pain that i feel, when you treat me like crap,
the life that i live, at times a caged trap

camano11
but what could be done, to return us to glee?
could this party of two...be a party of three?

camano12
a companion of sorts could get us over this hump,
all it really takes is one simple...

camano13
juuuuuuuuump!

camano14
clinging to the edge, all we need is some hope,
together at last, this is pretty damn dope!

camano15
two pumpkins and a horse, this love can't be bought
let's take our new friend, to our old special spot

camano16
the white powdered snow, the sights we adore,
back stop this fine perch, and lonely no more

camano17
what adventures await, for this sure ain't the end
two pumpkins and a horse, on camano island.

Saved By The...Shell

ring ring...

"Hey Natalie, what's up??"

"Ummm, are you already waiting at the tennis court?"

"Yup."

"Can you do me a huuuuge favor? I'm on Wilshire on my way to La Cienega and my Vespa just ran out of gas."

James to the rescue...

IMG_2239

Minutes later, having arrived at Wilshire and S La Peer...

"I've got a great idea! Why don't you drive and pull me?"

"On WILSHIRE BOULEVARD???"

"Fine, we can take side streets."

Minutes later, cruising down S Clark...

"You are going way too slow."

"There is no way I am taking you all the way to the courts. We still need to cross Robertson!"

"Fine, let's find a gas station."

"Okay, but your free ride is over. You're walking the rest of the way!"

IMG_2241

At long last, Natalie is saved by the (wait for it...) Shell. The gas station, of course.

Except...

IMG_2243

"Ummm, I don't think my Vespa is starting up."

"Well screw this. Let's just go play tennis and I'll deal with this later. It's safe to leave this here, right?"

IMG_2245

After Natalie explains to the Shell attendant what she's doing...

IMG_2246

...we finally arrive at the courts and are ready to hit some balls.

Too bad Natalie is wearing two different shoes.

[Description from them] 3 guys, 44 days, 11 countries, 18 flights, 38 thousand miles, an exploding volcano, 2 cameras and almost a terabyte of footage... all to turn 3 ambitious linear concepts based on movement, learning and food ....into 3 beautiful and hopefully compelling short films.....

= a trip of a lifetime.

Adventures In Cybertracking: Chris Brown's West Hollywood Condo

8265 Fountain Ave Unit #401.

If you're ever in the West Hollywood area and want to drop in on Chris Brown creating a ruckus in his newly purchased condo, that's where you can find him.

Now obviously he doesn't publicly tweet out his home address for all his adoring fans to come croon "Forever" with him. But with enough digging around the internet (and 10 minutes of time to waste on something completely trivial), you can piece together anything.

Yes, I'm a closet cybertracker. And maybe this tale will convince you to do something better with those 10 minutes.

So I'm doing my daily perusal of Google News and one of the top headlines I see is "Chris Brown -- Neighbors Say He's a Nightmare". Great, I think to myself, what nonsense has this guy gotten himself into this time? Plus, the article link points to a site of great journalistic integrity - TMZ, so of course I quickly click on.

At that page (link, if you're oddly interested) I learn that Chris Brown has been illegally parking in handicapped parking spots in his own condo complex!

Plus, neighbors have been complaining that he "is utterly disrespectful, blasting loud music and partying day and night ... even racing dogs down the hallways at all hours."

Of course, amidst all that nonsense, the line that catches my eye is...

West Hollywood condo, eh? I wonder if this nuisance lives near me. Curiosity gets the best of me, and it's back to Google...

A simple query of "Chris Brown West Hollywood Condo Pictures" leads me to an article on yodonbleekraps.com (whatever that means) titled "Chris Brown Buys A $1.75 Million West Hollywood Condo [With Pictures]" (link, if you're oddly interested). Bingo, front and center is this pic...

Hmm, a little glimpse of the right side of the building shows the number 8265. One step closer. But there are some other details in the article that will come in handy later:

1) Condo purchase price: $1.75m
2) This description: "The 3,000-square-foot unit occupies the entire top floor."
3) Considering the look of the building and the neighborhood its located in, the building is most likely a new construction.

Most people at this point would go back to Google and just type in "Chris Brown 8265" and see what comes up. And granted, those people would probably find what they're looking for at that point. But a true cybertracker needs some proof to back up his findings. So what's next?

So based off of Detail #3 above, I head over to the website Curbed: Los Angeles (la.curbed.com). This site is known for, among other things, critiquing new construction developments in the LA area, although the post commenters usually are far more harsh (a fact I discovered when I was doing research on the condo that I now live in and found comments such as "BAD 80's architecture with a new coat of paint. It was ugly then and it's even uglier today").

But I digress. Point being, if there's a new condo development in West Hollywood, it most likely has been talked about here. So once again, I go to the search bar, type in "8265 West Hollywood" and voila, I land upon an article titled "Development Du Jour: West Hollywood's 8265 Fountain" (link, if you're oddly interested). And what's the first picture I see on this article?

Well hello there, you look familiar! So we've got the address and visual confirmation of the complex, 8265 Fountain Ave. But what unit is he in? Scrolling down in the article, I notice this conveninent list:

7 units in total. But remember Details #1 ($1.75m purchase price) & #2 (occupies the entire top floor) from above? That certainly matches Unit 401! Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner.

So after all that adventure, we have an address for a convicted assaulter: 8265 Fountain Ave Unit #401. Zip code is 90046 if you want to send him a letter or something.

And that, my friends, is why you don't illegally park in a handicapped spot. Some creep will use it as an opportunity to find out where you live.

Oh, and don't scribble your initials on the elevator door. That's just insulting.

11/09/11 Update: According to TMZ, Chris Brown has moved out! Neighbors rejoice!
